Established September 15, 2000, the UW Bothell Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding alumni who have exhibited distinguished professional achievements and/or community service since graduation from the University of Washington Bothell.
This year,
the UW Bothell Alumni Council has chosen to honor alumna, colleague and friend,
Natalie Kay Lang. She was nominated by
her long-time colleague Linda Bale. Natalie died
on December 23, 2007 of unexpected liver problems while on dialysis from kidney
failure.
Natalie graduated from UW Bothell in 1997 with a Liberal Studies degree, focusing on Comparative U.S. Studies. But her contributions to UW Bothell over the next decade far outweighed what she received.
As a staff member she recruited and advised students from all around the world. Helping welcome them and celebrating the diverse cultures on campus.
Additionally, she advised the Intercultural Club, organized this remarkable event each year, and helped raise funds for the International Student Scholarship at UW Bothell that now bears her name.
Not to mention her extensive service to her community and church.
She was an inspiration to this campus, her community and her family. A leading light for eight brothers and sisters who earned their bachelor's degrees from either UW Bothell or UW Seattle.
In recognition of Natalie's outstanding professional acheivements, commitment to community service and UW Bothell, we proudly honor her with the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award.
