Government and Community Relations Student Assistant Position

This position is primarily to assist the University of Washington Bothell Assistant Vice Chancellor of Government and Community Relations in preparation for and during the 2014 Washington State Legislative Session. The person in this position will assist in tracking bills, conducting research and preparing materials including responding to legislative requests. In addition, this person will assist in making legislative appointments and with community events.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct legislative, fiscal and policy research
Track bills
May draft legislative amendments
Watch and/or attend hearings and meetings
Correspond with legislators and staff
Prepare information and materials in various formats
Make appointments with legislators and staff
Assist with event preparation
Work with faculty, staff, and student body
Other office duties as assigned

Advancement and External Relations Student Assistant

This position exists to promote the activities of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Reporting to the Office of Advancement and External Relations at UW Bothell, the student assistant will perform a variety of tasks including developing website content, social networking, events and general office duties.

General Information:

This position is 19 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Advancement Office in duties including:
Writing content for the School of STEM website
Assist in updating the School of STEM website using a content management system
Conducting interviews with faculty, staff and alumni
Writing copy for print publications
Advertising
Emailing Correspondence
Planning and staffing of events (both on campus and off). (Commencement, alumni and donor events)
Performing office general office tasks including: electronic and postal mailings, data entry, organize office materials, answer telephones
Working with various university staff on projects

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong communication and writing skills
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

Experience on computers in a Windows environment
Familiarity with content management systems
Customer service experience
Experience in an office clerical environment
