Scholarships and Finances


At the University of Washington Bothell, we are committed to helping you make your dreams of becoming a Husky true! We know that you have worked hard to get to this point in your educational career and that college can be expensive. That is why we want to reward your hard work and help you get to college!  The following are Merit Scholarships that we can offer to prospective high school students.

Out of State Resident Scholarships

The UW Bothell Purple and Gold Scholar Awards are available for U.S. residents from outside the state of Washington who have demonstrated extraordinary scholarship and aptitude. No separate application is required!

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a non-Washington state resident and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Submit your completed application for admission to UW Bothell by January 15
  • Be admitted as a first-time freshman

Purple Scholar Award

Students may be awarded up to $7,000 for students with a 3.0 to 3.49 on a 4.0 scale and a minimum 1000 SAT (Critical Reading + Math) or 22 ACT score.

Gold Scholar Award

Students may be awarded up to $15,000 for students with a 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and a minimum 1100 SAT (Critical Reading + Math) or 24 ACT score.

* Transfer college credit GPA must be equal to or higher.

You may renew the Purple & Gold Scholar Awards for up to nine (9) continuous quarters (excluding summer quarters) at UW Bothell following your First Year, providing you maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, earn at least 12-graded credits per quarter, and retain your nonresident status.

Important:   This award can only be applied toward tuition expenses.  The Purple and Gold Awards will be applied to the tuition balance after first applying Federal aid and other scholarship dollars.
