Education: Honoka’a High School and then moved on to the University of Hawai’i at Hilo before transferring to Seattle Pacific University, where I earned both my Baccalaureate (English Literature) and Master’s (Curriculum and Instruction) degrees.

Favorite TV Shows: “Game of Thrones,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Parks & Recreation,” “SNL”

Favorite Book: The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery

Favorite Sports Teams: Go Hawks! Go Huskies!

Favorite Restaurant in Bothell: Beardslee Public House’s speck and egg pizza is pretty tasty. Any dish can be made better with an egg on it.

Main Attraction at UW Bothell: The bookstore is a great spot for Husky swag and apparel. I also love walking around the outdoor areas, even (sometimes especially) when it’s raining!

Favorite College Experience: Having coffee or a meal with faculty was a great way to bond with my mentors. It felt good to provide something in exchange for all they were giving me!

Favorite WA Activity: My family travels to Leavenworth every winter for sleigh rides, Christmas lights, and some major sledding.

Advice for Transfer Students: Let yourself be new. Transfer students often feel as if, having had a college experience, they should know how to navigate the system. But when you transfer to a new institution, you’re new to that school. Look at it with new eyes, be open to learning, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. There is nothing you “should know,” and everything you “should ask!”

Fun Fact: My dorm room was frequently showcased on campus tours. I actually put out a candy dish for my visitors to welcome them!
