Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the new Academic Affairs Update, an online publication for highlights of faculty and academic activities, as well as Academic Affairs news.
Over the past year we have accomplished much together, thanks to the efforts of the entire faculty and staff. Our record growth in enrollment and degree opportunities means that you are all extraordinarily busy in the classroom, as well as with service, scholarship and research activities, perhaps allowing less time to share ideas and news with your colleagues. These conversations support the intellectual vitality, innovative pedagogy and interdisciplinary collaborations that make this campus so special, and we continue to seek new opportunities to foster such dialogue.
We hope this newsletter will provide a central forum for you to exchange information about research and scholarship, publications, teaching initiatives, awards, service activities, and other items of interest.
I want to thank Dinah Aldrich for creating this new electronic publication and Jason Beard for developing the distinctive design. Thanks also go to all of those who provided content ideas and items for inclusion. I invite you to send your ideas for additional content topics or other suggestions for improvement to vcaa@uwb.edu. Please send your news items to this mailbox as well.
Our exciting growth to 2260 FTE for Fall 2009 (111 percent enrolled) represents a key early milestone in the journey we envisioned as a campus community last year in developing the 21st Century Campus Initiative.
