UW Bothell student achievements

UW Bothell students achieve great things in and out of the classroom. Here are a few of their stories:

Katia Klepanchuk, a senior who is pursuing global studies in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, has been selected for the 2013-14 class of Coro Fellows. Only 64 fellows are chosen nationwide for this honor.

Two students received Fulbright Awards in 2013:

Tyrell (Ty) Edwards (IAS ‘11) will conduct research on international student development and retention at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Edwards will graduate in June with a master’s degree from the cultural studies program in the School of IAS. 
Christoper Nelson will graduate with his BSN in June. He will pursue his master’s degree in Denmark while conducting research on the expanded scope of nursing work in isolated Arctic settlements in Greenland.  Nelson is also the recipient of a Mary Gates Venture Scholarship. This type of Mary Gates award is very seldom awarded. He is the first recipient from UW Bothell.

Paulette Costanza, was awarded the prestigious Mary Gates Scholarship for her work with Professor Santiago Lopez on "Glacier Retreat and Land Cover Change in the Cotopaxi National Park."a senior earning her environmental studies degree with the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, works to understand how change affects socio-ecological systems in the tropical Andes.

Jenia Ostrovskaya won a Mary Gates Scholarship for 2013. This is the first Mary Gates Scholarship awarded to a UW Bothell  student for basic science research.
