AEP Requirement for International Students

All applicants must submit exam scores to meet the minimum English proficiency requirement for admission consideration (see table below).  Previous ESL or English Composition courses, even when taken in the United States, will not satisfy this requirement.  Students enroled in a U.S. high school or college are also required to submit official exam results to fulfill the English proficiency requirement.  We will not review applicants who do not submit offical test scores or who do not meet the minimum admission requirement.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper based 580
 Computerized TOEFL237
 Internet Based TOEFL 70
 APIEL AP4
UW Administered Michigan Language Test (MLT) 90

*Exception: Non-U.S. citizens whose primary and secondary education took place in Australia, Candada, Great Britian, Ireland, New Zealand, or the U.S. are exempt from this requirement.  Studentswho were born in any of these countries but educated elsewhere, however, will be required to satisfy the English proficiency requirement.

Submiting Scores

All exam scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to the UWB Office of Admissions.  Always use your legal name when you take the exam and report any name discrepancies to the UWB.  Only the exams listed in the table below may be used to satisfy this requirement.  Score reports provided to you by the testing agency (examinees' copies in the case of TOEFL, student copies in the case of APIEL) or photocopies of score reports will NOT be accepted.
